Somalia: Al Shabaab claims attack killed US fighter

MOGADISHU – Somalia’s Islamist group Al Shabaab has claimed responsibility for deady mortar and gun attack, killing US fighter, and injured four others near the coastal town of Kismayo.

Sheikh Abulaziz Abu Muscab, the al-Shabaab military operations says the attack killed one US soldier, two Kenyan soldiers and nine Somali soldiers in Bar Sanguni area, some 50km away from the town.

The Mujahidin fighters also injured four US soldiers,” said, Abdiasis Abu Musab.

The attack happened when about 800 troops from US special soldiers, Somalia and Kenyan forces came under fire in the country, according to US military.

Al Shabaab is fighting to overthrow Somalia’s central government and establish its own rule based on its interpretation of Islamic law.
