Somalia airlifts weapons, bullet proof vehicles into Dhusamareb

MOGADISHU – Somalia’s federal government has airlifted weapons and bullet-proof, pickup vehicles and security forces have arrived in Dhusamareb, the capital of Galmudug state of the central region in Somalia.

The move follows a recent agreement between the federal government and Ahlu Sunna Wal Jama’a a Somalia-based paramilitary group fighting against Al Shabaab.

Somali regional officials said 3 planes carrying weapons and bullet-proof, pickup vehicles and security forces had arrived in Dhusamareb.

The town is expected to host a large reconciliation conference for Galmudug clans in the coming days ahead of regional presidential election leadership.
