Somalia: 114 Somali prisoners landed in Mogadishu airport
Exactly 114 Somalis who were prisoners in the various Ethiopian jails have landed late on Saturday this afternoon at Aden Abdulle International Airport in Mogadishu.
These prisoners were cordially welcomed at the airport by Ministers, MPs and other officials in the federal government of Somalia, the entire officials said that the release of the prisoners by the federal government of Ethiopia is a significant step forward.
Instantly after the prisoners alighted from the plane the Ethiopian ambassador to Somalia His Excellence Jamaludiin Mustaf Omar and his counterpart in Ethiopia have held a press conference in the airport.
“Some of these detainees were sentenced up-to 20 years in jail, but due to talks between the two countries the charges have been dropped, and this clearly indicates the bilateral amicable relation between the two countries” said the Ethiopian ambassador to Somalia His Excellence Jamaludiin Mustaf Omar.
The Somali ambassador to Ethiopia His Excellence Mohamed Ali Nuur has thanked the Ethiopian government for the release of the detainees and cherished the mutual relation between the two countries.
The Somali Prime Minister and a delegation he is spearheading have recently paid a visit to Ethiopian and it was that time when the Ethiopian government has granted to release the Somali nationals in the Ethiopian jails.
In his blog the Minister for foreign affairs of the federal government of Somalia His Excellence Yusuf Garad Omar has said that, the Somali government is in strength engaged in doing all efforts to release Somalis who are detained in several other countries in the world in the near future.
