Somali state forces foil attack by Al Shabaab

MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somalia’s Puntland State Security Forces have launched an operation against Al Shabaab hideouts near mountains in north of Bosoaso town.

The operation was conducted, in a bid to thwart an orchestrated Al Shabaab attack on major security base Cal Madow Mountains near Bosaso, said in a statement by Puntland.

The statement further added that the Security Forces had recaptured Warbad and Gebidheer previously held by al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab.

Puntland state forces have been fighting against Al Shabaab and Islamic State groups around the mountains for two years.
