Somali spy officer shot dead near Kenyan border town

MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somali intelligence officer was shot and killed in an ambush attack by Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab near Kenyan border along Somalia.

The victim, whose name has been released as Abdulkani Ahmed Farah was killed following a surprise assault in Balad Hawo, a town close to Kenyan border

Farah and his bodyguards were ambushed last night, according to police man Hussein Farah Mohamed.

Mohamed says the ambush attack killed Farah, an intelligence officer while his bodyguards escaped.

The deadliest militant group Al Shabaab has claimed the responsibility for the assassination.

The group says it has killed a senior intelligence officer following an ambush attack near Kenyan border town.
