Somali soldier sentenced to death over civilians’ killing

MOGADISHU, Somalia – A Somali military tribunal court has sentenced a military officer to death on Saturday for killing three members of the same family in 2018 in the capital Mogadishu.

Hussein Abdullahi, a prosecutor said the accused man, Hashi Ali Mohamud was found guilty of murdering Hassan Ahmed Aboukar, Hussein Ahmed Aboukar and Abdullahi Ahmed Aboukar in on June 17, 2018, in Karan district of Mogadishu.

He says the court had sentenced Mohamud to death after he was found guilty of murdering three civilians in broad daylight in the capital.

The accused escaped from the crime scene, but days after he was arrested by the security forces, according to a statement seen by Mareeg Online.

Somali military court often carries such verdicts while most of Al Shabaab militants are executed upon a rule by a military court in Mogadishu for their role in terrorist attacks.
