Somali president urged to stop constitution violation

MOGADISHU- Former Somali president Sheikh Ahmed Sheikh Ahmed has sent a firm warning to country’s top leaders after his delegation was briefly detained from travelling Mogadishu capital to flood-hit town of Baladweyne.

Mr. Ahmed accused Somali leaders of disrespecting the constitution through violation of freedom.

He also warned that if the current adminstration do not desist they will use all necessary measures to stop it.

“We will remove the current government it it does not stop oppressing us”, he said.

Meanwhile, Somalia’s Minister for Information, Mohamed Hayir Mareye reacted to former president’s remarks, says he is very concerned about remarks.

Mareye termed the remarks made by Ahmed after he visited flooded hit city of Beledweyn as “astonishing”.
