MOGADISHU — Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud will visit Las Anod for the first time since taking office in 2022.
He will attend the inauguration of Abdulkadir Firdhiye, the newly elected president of Somalia’s North-East State, alongside Prime Minister Hamza Barre.
Senator Abdullahi Timacadde confirmed the visit and said preparations for the leaders’ welcome are ongoing in Las Anod city.
Timacadde praised the federal government for ending insecurity and political exclusion in the regions of Sool, Sanaag, and Buuhoodle.
Efforts are underway to resolve political divisions among federal representatives and promote unified leadership for regional stability.
