Somali President says relations with Kenya will not be affected
Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has said the relations between his country and Kenyan government will not be affected as diplomatic tensions grow
between the two neighboring states. Speaking to the media shortly after he arrived back from state visit to Djibouti, President Mohamud said the diplomatic ties between the two nations is not bad but
acknowledged there were mistakes on how Kenya treated some of its diplomatic
staff.
“The diplomatic relations between Somalia and Kenya is not on bad terms, but we are concerned about how Kenyan government continues to treat Somali
nationals in the country.” He said. He said his country is seeking an official explanation regarding the
detention of consular Siyad Mohamud Shire by the Kenyan police Somali ambassador to Kenya Mohamed Ali Noor Americo and Consular Mohamud
Shire have been recalled following the incident. Both are in the capital Mogadishu and are expected to appear before the parliament for explanations later this week. dalsanradio.com
