Somali president meets with USG Atul Khare

MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somali President, Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed has met with Atul Khare, Under-Secretary-General for the United Nations Department of Field Support (USG) in Mogadishu.

President Mohamed and USG Khare discussed on the current situation, security, economics, and efforts to re-build Somalia to move forward and development of the United Nations in Somalia.

Mr. Mohamed and Khare talked about ways to accelerate United Nations mission office in Mogadishu (UNSOM) support to Somalia, according to a statement seen by Mareeg Online.

The meeting was also discussed the ongoing military operations carried by African Union troops and Somali army forces battling against al Shabaab.

Mr. Mohamed assured Khare that his government is committed to working closely with the United Nations in peace-building in Somalia.

The USG Khare has hailed developments made in Somalia while he also thanked the country’s top leadership for his hospitalities in Mogadishu.

He also reiterated the United Nations would accelerate and continue its tirelessly support to the people and government of Somalia.
