MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud received the African Presidential Leadership Award from Africa House during a ceremony held in Davos, Switzerland.
The award recognizes his leadership and dedication to advancing state-building in Somalia.
Under his leadership, Somalia reached historic milestones, including lifting the arms embargo, completing debt relief, and joining the East African Community (EAC).
In a statement, President Mohamud expressed his profound gratitude for the honor and reflected on the collective achievements of his people.
“This award honors the resilience and determination of the Somali people, whose spirit drives our mission to rebuild our nation and contribute to Africa’s progress,” he said.
However, President Mohamud pledged to enhance Somalia’s regional role and urged African leaders to prioritize unity, peace, and sustainable development to address shared challenges.
