Somali president holds talks with Qatar’s Attorney General

MOGADISHU, Somalia – The President of Federal Republic of Somalia has held a secret meeting with Attorney General of Qatar, Dr. Ali bin Fetais Al Marri in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi.

The meeting took place a day ago in Nairobi where the president Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed attended a UN-sponsored meeting.

Mr. Mohamed and Al Marri discussed on the relations between Mogadishu and Doha and ways to improve cooperation to strengthen laws and fight against corruption.

The meeting was also attended by Qatari ambassador to Kenya, who planed the arrangement of the secret talks, according to Qatari media.

But, the Villa Somalia did not comment on the meeting.

Qatar is one of the closest friends to Somalia, particularly, country’s top leadership since he took the office in 2017.

Qatar supported financially to Mogadishu.

Doha also handed over military equipment and war vehicles to Somalia to help fighting against al Qaeda linked al Shabaab.
