Somali President flies to South Africa

MOGADISHU, Somalia –A high-level delegation led by Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed has flown to South Africa to attend presidential inauguration this weekend.

Mr. Mohamed departed from the Somali capital, Mogadishu to attend the inauguration ceremony of President Cyril Ramaphosa in South Africa’s Pretoria town.

The swearing-in ceremony will be held on Saturday at Loftus Versveld Stadium in Pretoria.

The South African government also invited other African leaders to join in the presidential inauguration this weekend.

South Africa’s police chief Cele says security has been beefed up ahead of the presidential inauguration.

He says 2,500 officers have been deployed to Loftus Versveld Stadium in Pretoria, where the swearing-in ceremony will be held.

However, 32,000 people, including Somali president Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed are expected to attend the inauguration ceremony of President Cyril Ramaphosa in South Africa’s Pretoria town.
