Somali president flies to Russia

MOGADISHU, Somalia – A high-level delegation led by Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed has flown to Russia after an official invitation.

Mr. Mohamed will attend first Africa-Russia summit hosted President Vladimir Putin in the Black Sea resort of Sochi next week.

Some 35 African leaders are also expected to attend the meeting that will take place in Sochi on Wednesday and Thursday.

Moscow wants to bolster its relations with other African countries.

He will also meet other African leaders on the sideline on the summit.
