Somali president condemns blast at football stadium
MOGADISHU – The President of Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has strongly condemned dreadful bomb attack at football stadium in Barawe town, about 180km south of Mogadishu.
The explosion killed at least five soccer fans and injured 10 other spectators at stadium, according policeman Hussein Mohamed.
Somali president Mohamed has accused the Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab group of having carried out the bomb attack in the town.
“It was terror and despicable attack. The terror group of Al Shabaab targeted unarmed civilians who crowed at stadium in Barawe town”, he said.
There was no immediate comment from Al Shabaaab to response the allegations.
Thursday’s attack was also slammed by African Union mission in Mogadishu, saying the Al Shabaab had started targeting youth in Somalia.
The mission said on its Twitter that that Somali forces and African Union peacekeepers would launch joint military offensive against Al Shabaab.
