Somali police says Briton survives being killed by Islamic State
MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somali police says A Briton has survived an apparent attempt on his life at the central prison in the capital of Mogadishu.
In a statement by police said, Anthony Thomas Cox, a British national was attacked by two Islamic State inmates with razor blades at the prison in Mogadishu.
Somali police says Thomas Cox had injured in the neck.
Last week, Thomas Cox was arrested after Somali authorities say suspicious items believed to be tear gas canisters was found in his luggage at Mogadishu airport.
Thomas Cox was handed over to the Security Agency for questioning according to sources.
The British citizen was trying to travel out of the country and heading to Addis Ababa via Ethiopian airlines. He has been working for a foreign private company in Mogadishu.
