
MOGADISHU, Somalia – Former president Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed has accused the Federal government of heading down the wrong path after holding a press conference in the capital, Mogadishu.
Mr. Ahmed says the current leaders are “violating basic rights” of citizens.
He also raised concerns about the current government’s ability to prepare elections, accuses it of neglecting the war against Al-Shabaab and “going after” the politicians.

His speech comes a day after he was blocked from flying to the port town of Kismayo to attend the inauguration of Jubaland leader, amid political tension between the central government and Jubaland administration.
.The blockade action was also condemned by former Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
Mr. Mohamud says the current government is using the airspace for political tool to restrict the movement of former president amounts to abuse of power.
“We advise the government to think twice and reverse the current course of action”, he added.
