Somali lawmakers explore critical roles in Rwanda
KIGALI, Rwanda – The Members of Parliament of the Federal Republic of Somalia are exploring the critical role played by evidence data in the formulation of development plans, programmes and allocation of budget in Rwanda.
The statistical awareness meeting facilitated by the National Institute of Statistics Rwanda is for the planning and finance parliamentary committees, according to UNFPA – United Nations Population Fund.
The UNFPA says Somalia is on a journey to develop a statistical law.
UNFPA added it is supporting members of the Federal Parliament on the budget, finance and planning committee to carry out a statistical awareness meeting in Rwanda
Meanwhile, Somalia’s Lower House Parliament speaker Mohamed Mursal Sheikh held talks with UN Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict Pramila Patten in Mogadishu.
The meeting was also attended by the Commissioner on Human Rights Hawa Abdi Ahmed and other members of the commission, discussing on the situation in Somalia with other issues, including crimes of gender.
In Mogadishu, Hon. Mursal Sheikh also received Dr. Phillip Rawkins, who is the President of Rawkins International Associates, based in Toronto, Canada.
