Detectives arrested 26 people accused of joining a network illegally obtaining government documents, officials said, identifying suspects as Somali and Kenyan nationals.
The two-day operation targeted a network enabling unprocedural access to national identification cards, passports, birth certificates, and foreigner identification documents across Kenya.
Investigators said civil servants, intermediaries, and alleged financiers were arrested, accused of fast-tracking sensitive documents through corrupt channels within registration and immigration agencies.
Authorities warned the scheme undermined government systems, posing security risks, including undocumented border movement and weaknesses in identification, immigration, and civil registration processes nationwide.
Detectives said raids recovered documents and equipment from suspects’ homes, including forms, fingerprint kits, certificates, passports, official stamps, and other materials facilitating illicit processing.
