MOGADISHU – Somali Union Journalists (SUJ) has strongly condemned murder of radio journalist in the central town of Galkayo.
Abdirisak Sa’id Osman, reporter for Radio Voice of Peace in Galkayo, was stabbed to death after he was slashed in the back and heart while on his way from the Radio station, his friends said.
Osman, 30, was taken into hospital after being seen unconsciously laying on the ground, but pronounced his death, said in a memo by Somali Union Journalists (SUJ).
“We strongly condemned the horrific murder of a local radio journalist following brutal knife attack on his life”, said Hassan Sheikh Abukar, the Secretray-General of Somali Union Journalist.
Osman, 30, was buried earlier on Wednesday in the town.
It is unclear the motive for the attack and who carried it out.
He becomes a second journalist to be murdered in Somalia in this year, according to SUJ.
