Somali journalist injured in Mogadishu

Somali female journalist, working for state-run Radio has been shot and injured by gunman in Mogadishu, according to police.

The victim, whose name has been released as Farhiyo Mire was hit several times in chest and legs at Dabka junction, policeman said.

He says the attacker was arrested and taken into police station.

The victim has been rushed into hospital for medical treatment.

The National Union of Somali Journalists [NUSOJ] has condemned the attack.

There has been no immediate claim of responsibility for the assassination.
