MA Degree in Armed Conflict and Peace Studies from University of Nairobi, Kenya.
Career:
1962-68 Worked at Central Bank of Somalia in both commercial and central banking
operations.
1969-70 Chief Auditor of Central Bank.
1971-73 Deputy Director General of the Somali Commercial Bank, and its successor the
Commercial Savings Bank of Somalia.
1975 Head of a national commission tasked with reforming the financial system and
administration of state owned corporations.
1976-81 Deputy Director General and then CEO and President of the Commercial Savings
Bank of Somalia.
1981-88 Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Somalia, assisting the Governor in
setting and formulating policies and strategies for the Bank.
2006-10 Governor of the Central Bank of Somalia. Responsible for re-establishing
the Bank after the civil war.
