Somali Independent Media Houses Association growing in popularity two weeks after its establishment, Somali Independent Media Houses Association (SIMHA) is gaining momentum.



The organization welcomed new members willing to join the body in a colorful ceremony event attended by directors and owners of various media houses, civil society organizations, and government officials including members of parliament,.



The Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Information, Post and Telecommunication, Mr. Abdishakur Mire welcomeed the association and calls upon for the unification by strengthening of the media fraternity in the country which has been affected in the last two decades of civil war.



Presidential Communication Advisers Justin Mezori and Engineer Yasirow, the Speaker who attended the event both stated that they are confident the association will be able solve major challenges facing Somali media if provided with enough resources.



On his part, SIMHA chairman Hassan Ali Gesey, the Director of Dalsan Radio, stated the need for more concrete steps to rebuild the media industry in Somalia. He added one of the major goals of the association this year is to unite media professionals in the Somalia.
