Somali FM welcomes new director of UN WFP
MOGADISHU – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Amb. Ahmed Isse Awad, received on Sunday at his office in the ministry the credentials of the new country director of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in Somalia, Mr. Cesar Arroyo.
The meeting dealt with the joint cooperation between the Federal Government of Somalia and the World Food Programme and its activities throughout the country, including encouraging Somali farmers by purchasing their agricultural crops, providing employment opportunities for young people, empowering women and paying attention to remote areas of the countryside to improve their livelihoods to reduce recurrent droughts.
The WFP Somalia Country Director stressed the full commitment and cooperation with Somalia for the success of several strategic axes of activities.
