MOGADISHU, Somalia – A young Somali female soldier is seeking seeks vengeance after her husband and father were brutally killed by A Shabaab, an al Qaeda linked group fighting to overthrow the Western-backed government based in Mogadishu.
The terror group slaughtered my father when he refused to pay extortion money imposed by Al Shabaab on him, said, Wiilo Abdi, a soldier serving Somali National Army (SNA) in Lower Shabelle region of Somalia.

The terror group also killed my husband.
The death of my husband inspired me to join the country’s army fight against the al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab.
Al Shabaab, the deadliest Islamic organization in Africa declared their allegiance to al-Qaeda in 2010.
The militant group was driven out of Mogadishu capital in 2011, and have since lost many strongholds to Somali army and African Union troops
The al Qaeda linked group still holds large rural swathes of the country and continue to wage a guerilla war against the Western-backed government of Somalia.
