Somali farmer shot dead outside Baidoa

MOGADISHU, Somalia – Unknown gunmen wearing military uniforms have shot and killed a prominent businessman earlier on Friday near Baidoa town, some 250km southwest of Somali capital, Mogadishu.

The victim, whose name identified as Ali Aden Marcus was also a farmer and was hit several times on the chest and head while he was heading to his farm near the town, a witness said.

He says the killers fled from the crime scene.

It remains unclear the reason behind his assassination.

Somali police soldiers arrived at the crime area and launched an investigation.

No group says it carried out Marcus’s assassination.
