Somali especial forces seize explosives after anti-Al Shabaab operation

MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somali especial forces have launched joint offensive against Al Shabaab controlled area of Kobon near the coastal town of Kismayo.

The especial forces seized a haul of high explosives stashed in Koban area near the town, according to military official, Ali Mohamed Mohamud.

Mohamud says the discovery was made during anti-Al Shabaab operation.

The latest discovery of explosives in the north of Kismayo town is one of the biggest finds since the special forces started the operations.

There was no comment Al Shabaab over the claims.

The al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab lost key towns to Somali army forces backed by African Union troops, but the group still holds large swaths in south of Somalia.
