MOGADISHU, Somalia, – At least 1,812 families have received food aid from Somalia’s Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), dispatched from the capital, Mogadishu.
SoDMA reported that 906 families in Warholo, Wara-Dhumale, Biya-Gadud, and nearby areas around Elbur in the Galgadud region received the aid.
In Guriel, more than 996 families, including vulnerable individuals and those impacted by the La Niña drought, also benefited from the distribution.
SoDMA’s Relief Director, Sahro Ali Yusuf, stated that the food distribution is part of ongoing efforts to alleviate the impact of the drought.
She said the aid was donated by Turkey and China in support of SoDMA’s efforts to combat the La Niña drought in parts of Somalia.
Speaking to the media, Mursal Hefow, Deputy Minister of Galmudug’s Ministry of Relief, thanked SoDMA and its leadership for the timely assistance.
Some beneficiaries from both towns also expressed their gratitude to SoDMA, sharing their joy and how the aid would help meet their needs.
