Six soldiers injured by explosion in central Somalia
MOGADISHU, Somalia – At least six government soldiers have left wounded in bomb explosion claimed by Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab.
The explosion targeted an armored vehicle carrying military soldiers in Mahas town, leaving six soldiers injured, a witness said.
He says the victims were taken into hospital.
The soldiers were on petrol when the explosion went off.
The bomb attack was claimed by Al Shabaab through its website.
The group says it has wounded six soldiers including two senior officials in the bomb explosion.
Somali military officials were unavailable to reach on the phone for comments on the attack.
The group has been waging insurgency for more than ten years in Somalia.
The Al Qaeda inspired group, which once controlled much of Somali capital Mogadishu in 2011 wants to topple the weak-western backed government of Somalia.
