A 12 member mixed jury on Wednesday found 53-year-old former policeman Deon Aaron guilty of raping a three-year-old girl. Aaron is said to have engaged in sexual penetration with the toddler between March 01, 2016 and October 20 2016.
The prosecution’s case is that the little child was left in the care of Aaron for a long period. But after the toddler had returned home, she complained to her mother about feeling unwell.
When the mother examined her child, she observed that her daughter had been sexually assaulted. Investigations were carried out and Aaron was arrested and charged with the offence.
Attorney-at-Law Madan Kissoon, who represented former cop throughout his trial, requested a probation report. While this request was granted, Justice Jo-Ann Barlow removed Aaron’s bail privileges and remanded him to prison until November 08, 2018, when the probation report and plea in mitigation will be presented.
He was previously on $200,000 bail. Guyanguardian.com
