Saudi rolls out the red carpet for Somali president

MOGADISHU, Somalia – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia has received a red carpet welcome upon his arrival in Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh.

President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed and his delegation were warmly welcomed by Saudi’s government officials and were escorted to the state house in Riyadh.

Somalia’s foreign affairs minister and other government officials are already in Saudi Arabia, to pave the way for the president welcome.

Mohamed has held talks with Saud’s officials, discussing on diplomatic relations and ways enhance their brotherly relations between Riyadh and Mogadishu.

Mr. Mohamed will attend the 14th summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in the Saudi city of Mecca.

The summit was scheduled to take place on May 31, to address “current issues in the Muslim World.
