Saudi FM arrives in Asmara

High level delegation led by Saudi delegation led by Foreign Minister Adel Al- Jubeir has paid one day visit to Eretria’s capital Asmara.

The Saudi delegation was warmly welcomed by Eretria’s officials at airport in the capital.

The FM Adel Al-Jubeir was accompanied by State Minister for African Affairs at the Foreign Ministry, Mr. Ahmed A. Qata and other officials, according to Eretria’s Minister of Information, Yemane G. Meskel

Meskel says Al-Jubeir and his delegation held talks with Eretria’s President Isaias Afwerki.

The Saudi FM has delivered to President Isaias letter from King Salman bin Abdulaziz on enhancement of historical and brotherly ties of both countries.

The two sides discussed wide range of issues, including bilateral relations investment, trade and security sectors, according to Meskel

For his part, Saudi FM Adel Al-Jubeir stated that the cooperation between the two countries was not confined to investment, trade and security sectors.

“The periodic meetings between the leaders and senior officials of both counties is anchored on shared priorities”

President Afwerki underlined that consolidation of the historical ties between the two countries has wider ramifications, beyond mere bilateral cooperation, for regional security and stability.

The Eretria’s president says an active role of Saudi Arabia in these matters is consequently vital

The Saudi delegation was escorted to the airport to return home after a day visit to Eretria’s capital Asmara.
