By Wonita Stephens-Just over a month after buying his grandmother a luxury house in the South of Florida, and promising not to forget to help those who have helped him through his struggles in life, 20-year-old Rapper American, XXXTentaction was shot dead in a hail of bullets during an apparent robbery less than 48hrs ago, just as he was leaving a motorsports store in Broward County, Florida.
Recently emerging as one of the most listened to rap artiste on social media, chalking up several million followers, and only days ago hailed by rapper Kanye West as an inspiration to young rappers, fans are now at a loss as to why anyone would have wanted to kill the 20-year-old who had only months ago emerged from a life of poverty and broken dreams.
“The first thing he did with his first line of wealth was bought his grandma a luxury house and left himself without any, because she struggled through poverty to raise him, and he always promised her that one day he was gonna take care of her”, said a close relative who spoke to several news publications, including the Florida Morning Post, after the incident.
Born Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, relatives and fans of the dead rapper, who was once a high-school dropout, have been busy trying to piece together the tragedy.
But a recent video that the rapper had posted on Instagram in which he apparently predicted his own death, is now adding more mystery and confusion to his demise.
In the video clip the rapper said, “If worse thing comes to worst, and I f***ing die a tragic death or some s*** and I’m not able to see out my dreams, I at least want to know that the kids perceived my message and were able to make something of themselves and able to take my message and use it and turn it into something positive and to at least have a good life.”
“If I’m going to die or ever be a sacrifice, I want to make sure that my life made at least five million kids happy or they found some sort of answers or resolve in my life regardless of the negative around my name, regardless of the bad things people say to me”.
XXXTentacion further added, “I don’t give a f*** because I know my goal in the end and I know what I want for everyone and I know what my message is. I just wanted to say, I appreciate and love all of you and I believe in you all. Do not let your depression make you. Do not let your body define your soul, let your soul find your body. Your mind is limitless. You are worth more than you can believe. All you have to do is dream and all you have to do is want to fulfill that dream and have the strength.”
According to the Florida Morning Post, the young rapper has always been a socially active person and it was not the very first time he has discussed his anticipated death on social media. SOURCE guyanguardian
