Janaale, Somalia — A Qur’an school teacher was brutally killed Thursday night in the Janaale area of Lower Shabelle region, authorities said, after armed attackers targeted his home.
The victim, identified as Teacher Xambali, was struck with a machete while trying to defend his property, according to local officials. He was a well-known figure in the town.
“The Janaale administration extends heartfelt condolences to the family, relatives, and students of Teacher Xambali,” a statement said. “We pray for God to grant him Jannatul Firdows and give patience to all affected by his death.”
Authorities said investigations are ongoing, and security forces are pursuing the perpetrators to bring them to justice.
Janaale, recently liberated from the Al-Shabaab militant group, is now fully controlled by the Somali National Army, though sporadic security incidents and targeted killings continue to occur in the area.
