Puntland defense forces have seized a large cache of ISIS weapons hidden in underground bunkers during a raid in Baallade Valley, northeastern Somalia.
The operation, part of Puntland’s counter-terror campaign Operation Hilaac, has uncovered assault rifles, RPGs, and military supplies. Several ISIS fighters guarding the cache were killed during the raid.
Authorities described the seizure as a major blow to ISIS, disrupting its supply lines and weakening its operations in the Bari region.
U.S. and UAE forces provided aerial support during the mission, helping destroy bunkers and caves. Earlier, the U.S. concluded a week-long drone campaign targeting ISIS in Somalia.
Puntland has since closed roads leading to Bosaso, aiming to prevent surviving militants from escaping. More operations are planned to target remaining cells.
