Puntland forces raid Somaliland police stations

Heavy fighting broke out between Puntland army forces and Somaliand soldiers in Las Anod town.

The fighting flared up when Heavily armed forces belonging to Puntland State have launched fresh attack on police stations run by the break-away of Somaliland soldiers.

The Puntland governor of Sool region, Abubakar Ahmed Gelle said that its forces carried out the attack, triggering fierce clash.

Gelle says the Puntland soldiers released tens of prisoners from the stations following the fighting.

He declined to comment on the casualties.

Somaliland military officials were unavailable to reach on the phone for comments on the latest fighting in the town.

There has been a tension between both sides, after Puntland and Somaliland soldiers clashed in desputed area of Tukaraq, north of Somalia
