Puntland security forces have arrested three foreign ISIL members during operations in Al-Miskad, Bari region.
The men, in custody, were captured near Teedsan Uur-Aled valley, according to Puntland Counterterrorism Command.
The capture came following a tip-off from local residents, the command added.
An investigation is reportedly underway to determine the origin of their nationalities.
The suspects were found with gunshot wounds and other signs of injury, the command said.
Operations against ISIL have resulted in many deaths and the seizure of several bases in the region.
Since December, Puntland reported killing 100 ISIS militants, most of them foreign.
ISIL in Somalia has become a key part of the global network, targeted by recent U.S. airstrikes.
The group has grown to 700-1,500 fighters due to foreign recruits and increased financial resources.
However, they remain much smaller than Al-Shabaab, which controls large parts of southern and central Somalia.
