President of Somalia Received the Credentials of the Italian Ambassador
On Septmber 26th 2016, HE the President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, received the credentials of the newly appointed Italian Ambassador to Somalia, Carlo Campalina. During their discussion, HE the President highlighted the challenges facing Somalia but also the significant progress made in sectors like security and democratisation. HE the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Ali Kadiye and other dignitaries attended the ceremony.
HE the President highlighted the need for a national youth skills programme and job creation initiatives to reduce vulnerability to radicalisation and provide them with skills they need to look after their families and contribute in a positive manner to the future of Somalia.
Ambassador Carlo Campalina congratulated the President and FGS for the progress made across Somalia in all sectors. He said noted that Italy, and the rest of the world, are well aware of the hardship and the challenges under which the Somali government is operating. He concluded his comments by thanking Somalia and the President for the warm reception, and promised to work to boost relations between the two countries including potential private sector investment and other initiatives.
