Jubaland President Ahmed Madobe has received a warm welcome from his Puntland counterpart Said Deni upon his arrival in Garowe on Sunday.

Madobe and Deni are set to discuss on the current political situation and the upcoming elections.

Both face disputes with the federal government and are expected to revive their alliance during their meeting in Garowe .

The talks aim to overcome challenges threatening Somalia’s federal structure and long-term political stability.

“This meeting is crucial for aligning regional strategies on national matters,” said sources said.

Madobe and Deni are seen as a counterforce to President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s push for unified elections across Somalia.

They accused President Mohamud of undermining inclusivity and political consensus in national decision-making.

Analysts believe the talks in Garowe may shape a unified position on electoral procedures with demands for consensus-based political processes in Somalia.

Madobe’s visit comes as Somalia faces political deadlock and worsening humanitarian conditions affecting millions across the country.
