Somalia: Plane with $9.6M to UAE mission seized in Mogadishu airport
MOGADISHU —A plane carrying a large sum of cash to United Arab Emirates has been caught, shortly after landing at the international airport in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu.
The seized money was reportedly heading to United Arab Emirates’ embassy in Mogadishu, according to sources.
Somali security forces at Mogadishu Airport seized large cache of money on UAE Airline Flight from Abu Dhabi, Security, source say.
Sources told Mareeg Online that the plane had been carrying nearly 13 million dollars.
Police and intelligence agents are investigating the shipment and intended destination, according to sources.
The seizure of the plane came after security forces at airport found tip-off that plane with cash landed in Somalia.
Neither Somali government officials nor UAE officials have commented on the seizure of the plane.
