At least one person was killed and two others wounded after armed men opened fire on civilians at a mini-market in Qoryooley town of Lower Shabelle region.
An eyewitness said the deceased, Habibo Ali, was a market vendor supporting her family. She died at the scene from gunshot wounds.
He said the wounded were taken to nearby hospital and are currently receiving treatment.
The motive behind the violence remains unclear.
After the shooting, the gunmen fled the scene. No suspects have been arrested.
Residents expressed fear and concern that similar attacks might happen again
Qoryooley frequently experiences clan-based violence which often leads to deadly confrontations. The city lies about 91 km north of the capital, Mogadishu.
