Mutinous Puntland soldiers blocked the main road to Bosaso airport, protesting lack of medical care after being wounded in the Al-Miskaad offensive.
The soldiers, injured while fighting ISIS in Al-Miskaad mountains, claim they have not received the medical attention and support they were promised.
Their protest disrupted traffic and access to Bosaso airport, leaving passengers stranded and vehicles stuck as the key road remained completely closed.
Local officials and Bari regional police commanders arrived at the scene, holding talks with the soldiers in attempts to ease tensions peacefully.
Authorities urged the soldiers to reopen the road, promising they would soon receive full government-funded medical care for their injuries.
Despite negotiations, the road remains closed, raising concerns as it is a vital route for movement and trade in Bosaso city.
This is not the first time wounded Al-Miskaad veterans have mutinied, previously blocking key roads to demand promised care from Said Deni’s administration.
