Mogadishu Mayor receives an award of recognition–Somali minister for youth and sport Honorable Khadija Mohamed Diriye, presented an award of recognition to the Mayor of the capital Mogadishu, Thabet Abdi Mohamed for his contribution to the game.

The mayor received the prestigious award in the presence of Somali Prime Minister, Hassan Ali Kheyre and Somali Football Federation president, Abdiqani Said Arab, as the country celebrated for the successful end of the second edition of Inter-State football tournament 2017.

“Mr. Prime Minister, I want to tell you that the Mayor of Mogadishu, Thabet Abdi Mohamed deserves this special recognition award because of his support and commitment to sport and most notably his acceptance to host the Inter-State football tournament in Mogadishu” minister for youth and sport Honorable Khadija Mohamed Diriye, emphasized.

“As soon as would be hosts Jubbaland said they were unable to host the huge event, the Mayor welcomed our request to host the Inter-State football competition” the minister said.

Meanwhile, Somali Football Federation president (SFF), Abdiqani Said Arab, congratulated the Mayor for winning such special recognition award.

“The Mayor is a young man who is committed to football and since he came to office he has done a lot with us. He deserves to be recognized for the role he is playing in football development and I appreciate that” SFF president said.
