Kenyan nationals arrested by Al Shabaab in Somalia
MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somali rebel group of Al Shabaab fighters have arrested number of Kenyan nationals in Jilib town, following an operation.
The detainees were captured in suspicion of being spies for Kenyan government, as Kenyan peacekeeping Forces with African Union in Somalia battling Al Shabaab.
The suspects were taken into police station runs by rebels in the town of Jilib, according to local residents.
It remains unclear what Kenyan nationals visited areas controlling under by Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab.
There was no immediate comment from Kenya over claims.
in 2011, Nairobi has sent its troops into Somalia to fight against Al Shabaab in retaliation for a wave of kidnappings of foreigners that has blighted its tourism industry.
Kenyan troops crossed the border to an operations point 60 miles inside Somali territory, preparing for raids on the al-Shabaab faction, a terrorist outfit linked to al-Qaeda.
