Kenyan forces hit by explosion in Mandera town
MOGADISHU, Somalia – A roadside bomb explosion has ripped through Kenyan armored personnel carrier near border town along Somalia.
The explosion took place in Mandera, a town close to Kenyan border along Somalia, a witness said.
He says the explosive must have been planted earlier on Sunday by suspected Al-Shabaab militants.
It is unclear how many soldiers were killed or injured in the bomb attack
Somali armed group Al Shabaab has claimed to have carried out bomb attack on Kenyan army forces’ vehicle near border town.
The group says it has destroyed an armored personnel carrier in the explosion.
Kenyan military remains unavailable to comment on the claims.
The al Qaeda linked group carried out several deadly attacks in Kenya since 2015 when Nairobi announced the plan to build a security wall along Kenya-Somalia border.
