The Kenyan army in Kismayo serving for the African Union Mission in Somalia [AMISOM] are undermining security in the town, according to Hassan Moalim Adam, an MP of the Ahmed Madobe’s Jubba Interim Administration in Kismayo

The Kenyan army in Kismayo serving for the African Union Mission in Somalia [AMISOM] are undermining security in the town, according to Hassan Moalim Adam, an MP of the Ahmed Madobe’s Jubba Interim Administration in Kismayo.

In interview with radio Dalsan today, Mr Moalim Adam said the Kenyan army are not willing to see the other districts of the region under al Shabab to be liberated, and that instead they would like to remain in Kismayo for their special interests.

“They say they are part of AMISOM, if that is true why the Kenyan army [KDF] are not cooperating with the local forces to liberate the other districts currently under al Shabab” Mr Moalim Adam said.

He said they knew the Kenyans came Somalia for their own purposes and not served for the interest of the Somalis.

“We as the Jubba administration, we decided to resume the operations against al Shabab, but the Kenyans opposed us.” he added.

The allegation came as joint operation between AMISOM and Somali army is currently going on in many regions of the country’s south and central parts, but not yet in Jubba regions.

The AMISOM officials were not availble for comment of this new allegation.

The Kenyan army in Kismayo were reduced to 200 soldiers from more than 4,000 after severe allegations from the locals that hit the reputation of the AMISOM following the KDF’s involvement into local clan-politics in Kismayo last year which resulted the deaths of more than 600 civilians dalsanradio0.com
