Kenya troops blamed for brutalising people in Somalia
MOGADISHU — Former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Farah Maalim has made damning claims on the conduct of Kenyan military operations in war-torn Somalia.
Maalim accused Kenya troops serving under African Union peacekeeping forces of brutalising people in Somalia
He called on Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta to stop his troops’ brutalities in towns near Kenyan border along Somalia.
The Kenyan forces were also accused of destroying Hormud telephone building with bomb explosions.
In a Twitter feed, he said: “An all too familiar episode is unfolding with our engagements in Somalia. We do have a standing contingent in AMISOM but non AMISOM KDF is brutalising people on both sides of the border”.
“Kenyan military forces in Somalia also destroyed Hormud telephone masts. President UHURU Kenya must stop this madness &compensate”, he said.
There was no immediate response from Kenya military over the allegation
