Kenya: Cuban nationals kidnapped by Al Shabaab suspects

MOGADISHU, Somalia – Heavily armed gunmen, thought to be members of al Qaeda-linked al Shabaab group have kidnapped two Cuban doctors in Kenya.

The abduction was carried out in Mandara, a town close to Kenyan border along Somalia, after attack shot and killed a Kenyan police soldier, according to KTN TV.

The Cubans were working for Kenyan government, according to the TV.

The attackers reportedly fled into Somalia after crossing the border on Friday.

The al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab carried out similar attacks on Kenya’s northeast region.

The region has seen deadly frequent attacks in which dozens of civilians and security personnel have been killed, with those attacks claimed by Al Shabaab
