Huge explosion heard in Somali capital
MOGADISHU, Somalia — A suicide car bomb explosion has targeted a security checkpoint on Thursday in Somali capital Mogadishu, a witness said.
He says a car laden with explosives hit security checkpoint near General Kahiye police academy in the capital, causing untold number of facilities.
A large clouds of smoke were visible into the sky after the explosion.
The attack comes after Somali police warned of a possible terror attack in the capital Mogadishu.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bomb attack.
Last week, Somali armed group Al Shabaab carried out suicide attack in the capital, leaving 15 people dead, dozens injured.
The group, which wants to topple the weak-western backed government of Somalia, was driven out of Mogadishu in 2011.
