German Nurse rescued ,Italian aid worker kidnapped in Kenya

MOGADISHU – Mareeg.com-Kenyan police says an Italian NGO worker was kidnapped and
five others injured during an ambush attack by suspected Al Shabaab
gunmen.

Kenya’s police chief, Joseph Boinnet said Sylvia Constanza Romano,
23, an Italian woman working for Africa Milele Onlus was abducted at
around 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Chakama trading center in the county of
Kilifi.

The abduction was carried out by six suspected Al Shabaab militants
armed with armed with guns and others with machetes and clubs,
according to Boinnet.

He says police soldiers started an operation to hunt down the
attackers and whereabouts of the abducted woman.

The Somali-based Islamic extremist group of Al Shabaab has been blamed
in the past for a spate of kidnappings of foreigners in Kenyan border

Nairobi sent troops to Somalia in 2011 to fight al-Shabab militants
after the kidnappings and border cross attacks in Kenyan soul.
